Katia Moraes
Interior and Furniture Designer

Katia Moraes is a Brazilian postgraduate in Interior Design at the Instituto Europeo di Design – IED/IESB (2011), in Brasília – DF, Brazil´s capital. Katia also did a postgraduate degree in Marketing from Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing – ESPM, in Porto Alegre, RS.

When she lived in Barcelona, she completed a postgraduate degree at The University of Barcelona in Tourism Management for Local and Regional Development. She has also lived in Bournemouth (England), Dublin (Ireland) and New York (United States).

She was born in the South of the country, and since she was a teenager, she was already interested in giving form, function and beauty to the pieces of furniture. Today she creates timeless, sophisticated and exclusive pieces for the most varied environments.

Morgana Moraes
Architect

Morgana Moraes is an urbanist architect graduated from the University of Rio do Sinos-UNISINOS (1997) and has a postgraduate degree in Interior Design at Centro Universitário Ritter dos Reis (2001). In 1996, she studied the History of Art and Architecture in Latin America at the University of Seville, Spain. She was born in the South of Brazil and has 20 years of experience in architecture and interior design.

The pieces created by the Studio mix aesthetic and timeless references. The most well-known work produced by the sisters is Athos Table, a piece inspired by The Sculptural Wall by artist Athos Bulcao, launched in September 2016, in CASACOR Brasilia, an annual event that brings together renowned architects, designers and landscapers.

Piece inspired by The Sculptural Wall, a work by Brazilian artist Athos Bulcao which is exhibited in the Chamber of Deputies in Brasilia, capital of Brazil. As an homage to the artist, the piece from sisters Katia and Morgana received support from Athos Bulcao Foundation (www.fundathos.org.br), non-profit institution that administers the works and the copyrights of the artist.

2018
The Athos Table, was selected by WB Architecture to be part of the Loft and Curator´s Atelier environmental project, at CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul 2018, in Porto Alegre, RS.
Participation of the white and cobalt blue Athos Table at the BSB Design City Exhibition, in Brasília, DF.

Donated by Katia and Morgana Moraes Studio, the white and cobalt blue Athos Table became part of the permanent exhibition at the Athos Bulcao Foundation, in Brasília, DF.

The Katia and Morgana Moraes Studio was included in the Projeto Raiz – www.raizproject.com.br – from Sindmóveis Bento Gonçalves, in partnership with The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

2017

Participation of the Athos Table in High Design Expo 2017 – São Paulo Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, in São Paulo, SP.

Selected by the Chamber of Deputies Cultural Center to be part of the group exhibition “Concrete”, the Athos Table participated in the event from July 12th to August 9th 2017, in Brasília, DF. The olive color piece was donated by Katia and Morgana Moraes Studio to be permanently displayed in the Chamber of Deputies.

The Athos Table was also selected by The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) to integrate the exhibition BE BRASIL at the Milan Design Week 2017, at Milan University, in Milan.
